Shockstrip® to Host First Responders Football Game

Shockstrip Has Arrived to the Semi-Pros

Canfield, OH – April 10, 2013:  Shockstrip®, Inc., specialized exterior helmet pads will host the NYPD Finest Football Team versus the Cleveland Warriors Football Team on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Warren G. Harding High School’s Mollenkopf Stadium in Warren OH. Both the Finest and the Warriors are member teams of the National Public Safety Football League. Tickets are $5.00 and can be purchased at Novicky Chiropractic Inc. 4247 Belmont Ave. Youngstown, OH 44505 (330) 759-9912 or the day of the game at the gate. Kick-off is 1:00PM. “Shockstrip® is very excited that two teams of this caliber are bringing their talents to our home town,” said Dr. Steven Novicky creator of Shockstrip®.

Shockstrip® is a supporter of the NYPD Football Team, the first semi professional team in the US to wear Shockstrip’s bumper-like device. Finest Football’s lineup of 72 college and former professional players, all active duty patrol cops, detectives and supervisors, will use Shockstrips on their helmets during the team’s 2013 football season beginning this April. “The Finest”, one of the nation’s top semi-Pro teams, holds seven NPSFL National Championship titles. "We are thankful that Shockstrip® has made player safety their number one priority and look forward to showing Warren, Ohio just how well Shockstrip® works at the Semi-Pro level," said Tony Hernandez GM of NYPD Finest Football.

Shockstrip®, launched in 2010 by Ohio native Dr. Steven Novicky, increases an athlete’s level of protection by decreasing the force of impact in helmet-to-helmet contact. Made of the proprietary AkTON® Xi75 polymer, a medical grade material with the primary function of absorption, deflection and sound deadening from helmet collisions, Shockstrips are similar to the concept of an automobile bumper absorbing impact. Shockstrips can be affixed to the outside of virtually any helmet for extra protection against impact.

PLEASE NOTE: 1) No helmet pad can prevent or eliminate the risk of concussions or other serious head injuries while playing sports; 2) Scientists have also not reached agreement on how the results of impact absorption tests relate to concussions; and 3) No conclusions about a reduction of risk or severity of concussive injury should be drawn from impact absorption tests.

ABOUT NYPD FINEST FOOTBALL
The NYPD Finest Football team is a registered 501C3 organization that is comprised of active duty New York City police officers who play football while off duty and raise funds for charity. To date, Finest Football has raised half a million dollars for local and national charities.  Some of the organizations the team supports through contributions and projects are; the Wounded Warrior Project, the Make a Wish Foundation, NYPD Widow and Children’s Fund and the Ronald McDonald House NYC. Players and staff also visit New York City area hospitals delivering mini footballs and coloring books to young patients.  In October 2001, at the invitation of the Walt Disney Corporation, the team conducted a stay-in school football clinic for 120 children-at-risk as part of “Disney’s Global Celebration of Children.” On June 19, 2002 the team was presented with the “Community Partner of the Year” award by the Walt Disney Corporations’ Disney VoluntEARS Program. ABOUT SHOCKSTRIP
Founded in 2010, Shockstrip are specialized exterior helmet pads designed to give helmets an added layer of cushion and reduce the impact of helmet-to-helmet contact. While no helmet or device can fully protect against concussions, helmets with Shockstrips have been tested and shown to perform significantly better than helmets without the product.  For additional information about Shockstrips and product demonstration, please visit www.shockstrip.com.
