What You Need to Know About Your Helmet Warranty

Remember, football helmets are made for, and work very well to prevent ONLY two primary motives – to reduce skull fractures and to reduce or prevent subdural hematomas (blood clots which form underneath the skull and dura)... NOT CONCUSSIONS. Although helmet manufacturers and companies are diligent in providing visible warnings stating "NO helmet can prevent serious head or neck injuries a player might receive while participating in football" and that "contact football may result in concussion-brain injury which no helmet can prevent," parents remain largely unaware of the potential brain injuries and serious long term effects their child may experience.

A helmet warranty covers any and all manufacturer defects for a period of 1-2 years depending on the manufacturer.

This warranty is extended as long as the helmet is re-certified by utilizing NOCSAE guidelines at a certified NOCSAE testing facility. The helmet must be re-certified every 1-2 years depending on the manufacturer.

The warranty on the shell of the helmet itself is limited to fractures, breaking or cracking under normal usage. This warranty is also limited to 1-2 years depending on the manufacturer. This warranty is extended with proper re-certification credentials every 1-2 years depending on the manufacturer.

  • If the helmet, or any part of the helmet, is damaged when it is not used in a manner or anyway that it was not intended for.
  • If you do not have the helmet reconditioned/recertified every 1-2 years, depending on the manufacturer’s guidelines, at a certified NOCSAE testing facility.
  • If you:

– Change to a non-certified face mask or face mask not made by the helmet manufacturer.
– Change to a non-certified chin strap or chin strap not made by the helmet manufacturer.
– Remove or lessen the internal padding of the helmet.
– Remove any or all of the warning/re-certification stickers.
– Clean the helmet with non-approved cleaning products.
– Paint the helmet with non-approved paint.
– Applying any non-manufacturer approved internal or external device to the helmet.
