ZACH LARRIER, Westside Patriots, 120 lb. Team

"I am very happy that Dr. Novicky chose my team to release his Shockstrips. I first though we looked like dragons but quickly decided that the strips set up apart from any other team. I never got hit where my head was involved (quarterback) but I felt better knowing that I was protected. I hope that all youth sports that involve contact use the strips too. I even told my cousin Marcus, who lives in Maryland and plays lacrosse that he should get strips too."

DAN ZILKE, Western Reserve High School

“I am middle linebacker and running back. I have had only good experiences with the strips. I didn’t wear them the first half of the year and the second part I wore them. I saw a great improvement. If possible everybody should have them.”

DONNIE BOLTON, Western Reserve High School

"I just wanted to say that I think the Shockstrips are a great thing to have going into the football season for helmets. I can personally say this because as you know the last playoff game we had against Buckeye Central, I got hit pretty hard by a free safety when I went on a go and had no way to protect myself and it turned out that I got right back in the next play. I owe it all to Shockstrip from what I think they really helped. Thank you again and I hope that you can make it mandatory that every team wear them one day."

TOMMY MARLOWE, Western Reserve High School

“I am a senior at Western Reserve High School in Berlin Center, Ohio. I was introduced to the Shockstrips the last game of my season and I think that they really helped me a lot with my position especially. I am a fullback and an inside linebacker, and I tend to use my head a lot on accident without thinking about it. The first day that I had Shockstrips on I could tell that there was more padding and helmet to helmet was not bad at all anymore. I felt protected with the strips on and then after the game is was the best I have felt. I have already recommended the Shockstrips to parents that asked me about them. They did not affect my play at all.”

PLEASE NOTE: 1) No helmet pad can prevent or eliminate the risk of concussions or other serious head injuries while playing sports; 2) Scientists have also not reached agreement on how the results of impact absorption tests relate to concussions; and 3) No conclusions about a reduction of risk or severity of concussive injury should be drawn from impact absorption tests.

CHRISTIAN ARMSTRONG, Westside Patriots, Age 10

“This past year I wore the Shockstrips and I loved them. When I hit someone it did not really give a shock, it stopped the bang. When I put it on the first time I knew it would be a big difference wearing a helmet with the strips versus wearing a normal helmet.”

JOEY SANTANGELO, Springfield Local Middle School

“My name is Joey Santangelo. I am currently a 7th grader in the Springfield Local Intermediate School. I wanted to write you this letter and thank you for inventing Shockstrips. I feel that Shockstrip should be mandatory for all players. I was expecting it to be very loud but to my amazement it was not. My impression of Shockstrip was very good because you cannot tell you are wearing them and I felt better knowing that this would give me extra padding on my helmet.”

JON TIMKO, Western Reserve High School

“I really enjoyed using the Shockstrips this football season. My parents also felt a lot better that I wore them. I recommend Shockstrips to everyone. I think they are amazing. They look sweet too.”
