JEFF MARTIG
Athletic Director, Western Reserve High School

"While working as athletic director and football coach for the school, I have been charged with the duty of purchasing all necessary equipment for the football team and athletes. Through the years I have seen many advances in the technology of the helmets and equipment but none that I think that will make more of an impact than Shockstrips®.

After a parent had brought the product to my attention and I reviewed the research online, I was convinced. I had contacted Dr. Novicky and spoken with him in regards to fitting our starters and key personnel for the playoff run we were about to embark on. It was one of the best decisions I have made as an athletic director. I received rave reviews from the players, on and off the field, telling me how much different it felt when they delivered that jolting blow to the opponent. That boost of confidence gave our athletes the edge and propelled us into the State Semi-Finals. We finished the season ranked #1 in the Associated Press poll for Division VI in Ohio.

So, should Shockstrips be a mandatory piece of athletic equipment for the football players at Western Reserve? Without a doubt, my answer would be yes. Any piece of equipment that can add extra protection to our young student athletes is worth it's weight in gold."

PLEASE NOTE: 1) No helmet pad can prevent or eliminate the risk of concussions or other serious head injuries while playing sports; 2) Scientists have also not reached agreement on how the results of impact absorption tests relate to concussions; and 3) No conclusions about a reduction of risk or severity of concussive injury should be drawn from impact absorption tests.
